Many in the West may think of Timbuktu as being located at the ends of Earth, but for Islam, it was the golden city of scholars, with rare books, glorious qu'rans and accomplished chronicles. It's a unique manuscript heritage of world importance that still exists today. Joan Baxter enters into the homes and libraries of the people who are bringing this rich history into the 21st Century.
