Matthew Sweet talks to the internationally acclaimed Australian scientist and writer Tim Flannery as three of his books are published here for the first time. Flannery's writing sits comfortably between science, travel writing and ecological history but have also been described as nature poetry. Find out why he has recently been awarded Australian of the Year and who the eponymous Weather Makers of his most recent book are.
Tim Flannery's The Weather Makers, Country, The Eternal Frontier and Throwim Way Leg are all published by Penguin Paperback on World Environment Day (June 5th).
Lucien Freud
Night Waves also hears from Dublin where an exhibition of Lucien Freud's paintings is about to open including many that haven't been seen in public before.
The Lucien Freud exhibition is at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham, Dublin, until September 2nd. It then tours to the Louisiana Museum, near Copenhagen from September 15th- January 28th 2008 and the Gemeent Museum, The Hague, from February 18th- June 8th.

Eden Project
Night Waves get's a sneak preview of the heaviest stone sculpture ever made in this country - Peter Randall-Page's seventy-tonne Seed. Conceived as the massive centrepiece for one of the buildings of Cornwall's Eden Project, it's carved from local granite and inspired by natural forms and processes. Night Waves talks to its creator, the sculptor, Peter Randall-Page, and maverick businessman and Chief Executive of the Eden Project, Tim Smit.
Seed is unveiled at the Eden project on June 11th.
