Night Waves

Turner prize nominated artists Jane & Louise Wilson

Friday 29 April 2005 21:45-22:15 (Radio 3)

Known for their evocative film installations, investigating spaces from the House of Lords to the former Stasi secret police headquarters in Berlin, Turner prize nominated artists Jane and Louise Wilson turn their attentions to designing a stage set for Michael Tippett's The Knot Garden at the Royal Opera House. They talk to Paul Allen.

Duration:

30 minutes

Programme Details

Historian Mike Dash talks about his new book on the murderous Indian cult of the Thuggee that throws an unexpected light on contemporary policing.

Michael Tippett's The Knot Garden is about to open at the Linbury, the fruits of the first collaboration ever between the Royal Opera House and Music Theatre Wales. Night Waves ignores the show and looks at the set - a video installation by the visual artists (and twins) Jane and Louise Wilson

Amaranta Wright reveals how her disenchantment working for Levi Strauss in South America lead to her founding a politics and culture magazine for teenagers in Britain.

And keeper John Millard opens the doors to the World Museum Liverpool - a £35 million project designed to help put the city on the map in time for its year as European Capital of Culture in 2008.
