Mike Jackson
Philip Dodd speaks to the man who took over the British Army just seven weeks before the invasion of Iraq. General Sir Mike Jackson served in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland and countless other conflicts in a successful military career spanning nearly half a century. Yet one his chief legacies was the radical reshaping of the Army - involving the loss of much-loved regiments. He also retired leaving the British armed forces very much still present in Iraq. Mike Jackson joins Philip to discuss his autobiography, and to explain why he believes the American `war on terror' makes little sense.
The Soldier by Mike Jackson is published by Transworld.
