Philip Dodd talks to one of Latin America's greatest hopes for the Nobel prize for literature, Carlos Fuentes. Why does he still find such dismay and exhilaration in the Mexican revolution?

Philip Dodd will be talking to Carlos Fuentes, Mexico 's foremost novelist about his latest book The Eagle's Throne. The novel is set in 2020 and explores the nature of power as a group of politicians manoeuvre to become the next president of their country.

Fuentes discusses Mexico's complex relationship with the United States and how his admiration for Laclos' Les Liaison Dangereuses inspired him to write a novel composed entirely of letters.

The journalist Rosie Boycott will be in the studio to talk about North Country, the latest film from Niki Caro, the director of Whale Diary. The film stars the Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron as a young woman who encounters prejudice when she takes on a job as a miner in Minnesota .

The novelist Albert Camus' work has inspired many films and stage adaptations. As a new film, Fate, based on L'Etranger opens the writer Geoff Dyer will be talking to Philip about the enduring appeal of Camus.
