Away From Her
28 year old actress turned director Sarah Polley has made a film starring one of the most iconic faces of the 1960's, Julie Christie, which is both a love story and a study of Alzheimer's disease.

Set against the snowy winter expanses of Canada, Away From Her, explores the end of a 40 year old marriage as a wife begins to lose track of the present.

In tonight's Night Waves, Gabriel Gbadamosi talks to Sarah Polley about Alzheimer's and about directing Julie Christie in such a challenging role.

Away From Her is released on 27 April, certificate 12A.

Ed Hussain
Also on Night Waves, Gabriel goes inside the mind of a religious extremist as he discusses a new book The Islamist.

The book is an exploration of British Muslim Ed Hussain's journey into and back out of Islamist organisations in the East End of London and offers some warnings and advice for the future.

The Islamist by Ed Hussein is published by Penguin on 3 May.

Nigerian Elections
Night Waves also hears from writers from Nigeria, London and the US - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Adebayo Waidi Gbenro and Onyekachi Wambu - to discuss the cultural impact of the controversial presidential election in Nigeria last Saturday.

Opposition parties and foreign observers have said the elections were deeply flawed, citing cases of fraud and violence.

Gabriel discusses what critics see as the failure of leadership in Nigeria present and past, and the role of writers to help make change in one of Africa's largest and most diverse countries.

Kiss Of The Spiderwoman
Gabriel is joined by Maria Delgado to review the new production of Kiss Of The Spiderwoman at the Donmar Warehouse.

Kiss of the Spiderwoman is at the Donmar Warehouse until 26 May, and then goes on tour. For more information please visit the Donmar Warehouse website
