Richard Meier
When the Ara Pacis Museum in Rome opened last year it became the first major new public structure built in Rome since Mussolini's time. Matthew Sweet will be talking to the American architect responsible, Richard Meier, whose buildings also include the Getty Centre in Los Angeles and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona. Now in his early seventies Meier remains the youngest ever recipient of the Pritzker Prize, architecture's highest accolade, which he was awarded in 1984.

Private Armies

A discussion of the history and morality of private armies, a subject back in the news since the war in Iraq and Afghanistan has revealed the role private soldiers are playing in modern warfare. They were responsible for the massacre of the pope in the fourteenth century and for the execution of colonial ambition three centuries later - but do they play a different role today?

Paul Foot Award
Matthew will be talking to the winner of this year's Paul Foot award for campaigning journalism just after the announcement on Monday night.
