Gustav Klimt
Design guru Stephen Bayley and art critic Richard Cork join Matthew Sweet to consider the major new retrospective of the work of Gustav Klimt and his decadent milieu of Vienna at the turn of the last century.

As the exhibition opens at Tate Liverpool they ask whether some of the twentieth centuries most reproduced and fabulous art can resist the label of 'kitsch'.

Gustav Klimt: Painting, Design and Modern Life in Vienna 1900 runs at the Tate Liverpool from 30 May - 31 August 2008

Not Dead Yet
Julia Neuberger joins Matthew to discuss her new book, a ten-point manifesto for old age, Not Dead Yet, which calls for justice for what is an increasingly powerful, active and articulate segment of society.

Not Dead Yet by Julia Neuberger is published by HarperCollins Entertainment.

Images of Mars
And as astonishing images of Mars arrive from the Phoenix, Matthew speaks to science writer Oliver Morton in an attempt to shed light on the swirling gap between the iconic fantastical fictional images of Mars we have created and enjoyed over the years, and this new reality.

These new images certainly mark a cultural shift in how we view the red planet, but will we soon be seeing viewing it through Google Mars rather than through novels?
