The Battle for Haditha
And documentary-maker Nick Broomfield turns director for his new film, The Battle for Haditha. He talks to Matthew about his cinematic retelling of the massacre of 24 men, women and children in Haditha, Iraq; allegedly shot by 4 U.S. Marines in retaliation for the death of a U.S. soldier killed by a roadside bomb. Matthew examines this investigation of the effects of this violence on both the Americans and the Iraqis.
The Battle for Haditha will be released in cinemas on 1 February. The film will premiere on Channel 4 on 3 Marchand be available on DVD from 17 March. Certificate 15 tbc.
