Jonathan Coe's Like a Fiery Elephant

By the time he committed suicide at the age of 39 in 1973, the experimental novelist BS Johnson had already acquired a reputation for being a formidable talent, attracting plaudits from the likes of Samuel Beckett.

Today, much of his work is out of print. Jonathan Coe's new book Like a Fiery Elephant: The Story of BS Johnson explores his life and work.
