Programme Details

This evening on Night Waves, Philip Dodd talks to the American humorist and war reporter P.J. O'Rourke. His latest book is a collection of mordant dispatches from troublespots around the world, from Kosovo to Iraq. He talks about his politics, his prose style and the boundaries of his humour.

Philip is joined by the documentary film-maker Roger Graef and the photo-journalist Stuart Franklin to discuss a major new exhibition of work by the Swiss photographer Robert Frank, whose pictures of mid-century America are among the most evocative and influential ever taken.

And Night Waves looks back at the work of one of the most revered and prolific film directors in Hollywood's history. George Cukor was responsible for a string of classic works, from The Philadelphia Story to My Fair Lady - but was he one of film's true artists or merely a skilled artistan?

Join Philip Dodd for Night Waves at 9.30pm.
