Economists and Humanity
Matthew Sweet and his guests will be discussing whether economists have too great an influence on public life.

On the eve of the first of the Reith Lectures, which this year are given by the eminent economist Jeffrey Sachs, Matthew is joined by Lord Meghnad Desai, Jonathan Rutherford and Diane Coyle. They look at the role of the economist in the modern world.

The 2007 Reith Lectures, given by Jeffrey Sachs and entitled 'Bursting at the Seams', begin on 11 April at 9 am on Radio 4.

The mathematician Ian Stewart looks back at the life and work of one of the forgotten giants of the Enlightenment, Leonhard Euler.
