Tom Thayer: Sound Collage 1998-2002 (5.35)
This track begins with the artist describing the initial processes in making the music. It was recorded on a four-track cassette recorder using cast off electronic objects, machines and analog synthesisers picked up from thrift stores.

Oneida: The Eiger (2.31)
Thinking to themselves, 'what would the Left Banke sound like if they were a machine?', Oneida set out in 2001 to build the largest musical box on the east coast of the USA. They constructed it in their own recording studio, using plywood, salvaged marine pilings, industrial motor parts and over seventy saw blades to create the sound. They recorded the results and used them as the basis for the songs on this album.

Laurel Macdonald: Nenia Sirenes (5.07)
Laurel Macdonald originally hails from Halifax, Novia Scotia, but now lives in Toronto. This piece was written by her collaborator Philip Strong for the Toronto Dance Theatre's 2001 production Persephone's Lunch. In the original version, the vocal dubs were outtakes from another performance which were looped and pitch shifted, but, to give a more organic feel, Laurel re-recorded them all for this version.
