The Detholz!: Spectacula (3.25)
Chicago's The Detholz! (pron. death-holes) are Mr C, Mr D, Mr B, Mr S, Mr J and Mr M, who describe themselves alternately as 'a carnival ride through the universes of pop, punk and new wave', and 'a motivational seminar and big-tent religious revival simulcast to an imaginary congregation of true believers'. They were formed at a fundamentalist bible school in 1996.

Zu is an instrumental trio from Rome in Italy, consisting of Jacopo Battaglia (drums), Luca-Tommaso Mai (baritone & alto sax) and Massimo Pupillo (bass). On this recording they are joined by Alberto Mattaroccia (live sound). The band is currently working in Amsterdam with the Ex.

A Hawk and A Hacksaw: For Slavoj (4.55)
A Hawk and A Hacksaw is the project of Jeremy Barnes, drummer for Neutral Milk Hotel and associate of bands like Broadcast, Bablicon and Guignol. This album, with its Eastern European feel, was mainly conceived in Prague, then recorded in a church in Leicester and a dance studio in Albuquerque. The violinist on this track is Heather Trost, who with Dan Clucas (trumpet) and Mark Weaver (tuba) is part of the newly assembled A Hawk and A Hacksaw band.

Littl Shyning Man: Hanging With Mr Cooper (2.50)
Littl Shyning Man is the alter-ego of UK based Chris Haworth. The unusual spelling of the name and album title is inspired by Russell Hoban's futuristic folk tale Riddley Walker, which imagines the future resurrection of a past language and culture. This track features the sounds of Chris's piano tuner (Mr Cooper) at work.

Matmos: Aluminium; Sewing Needles; Wooden Boxes; Bells, Whistles; Jew's Harp (20.00)
Matmos is the San Francisco duo of MC Schmidt and Drew Daniel. For this performance they were joined by Jay Lesser (aka Lesser, Tigerbeat6 recording artist). This performance is based around aluminium objects, and features MC Schmidt tearing open an empty beer can and playing an aluminium foot plate with a pair of wire brushes, before moving on to a series of improvisations based around the sounds of sewing needles, wooden boxes, bells, whistles and a Jew's harp.

This album is a tribute to the book Negrophilia ('love of black culture') by Petrine Archer-Shaw, which traces the black influence on the Parisian avant-garde art scene of the 1920s.
