Opto: 04:34 a.m. (4.25)
Opto is Carsten Nicolai from Berlin and Thomas Knak, aka Opiate, from Copenhagen. This collaboration came about when Nicolai found a cassette tape in some woods near Berlin. The tape contained lo-fi recordings of a guitar interspersed with the forest ambiance. He cleaned up the recordings and sent them to Opiate, who added the beats and ambient sounds taken from a forest near Copenhagen. The times at which he made his recordings give the tracks their titles.

Aufgehoben: Avant Primitiv (7.20)
Recorded 21 August 2001 at Moat Studios, Brixton, London. Aufgehoben never say who they are. All we know is that they are a Brighton and London 3-piece who collaborate with the guitarist Gary Smith (Mass/Glass Cage/Powerfield). They rarely meet, never rehearse and never write. When they want to record, they get together and record in one burst then spend months, even years, editing and processing the results until they are barely recognisable. They take great delight in making challenging listening.
