Jez Nelson presents a concert by the Larry Bartley Octet recorded at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival last weekend.
One of the most in-demand bass players in the UK, Bartley has recently been making a name for himself as a bandleader and composer. This has led him to be commissioned, as part of Cheltenham Festival's Jerwood Rising Stars scheme, to write new music for this high-profile concert.
Bartley's Octet features some of this country's leading jazz soloists, including Tony Kofi on saxes and Byron Wallen on trumpet.
