London Jazz Festival

To celebrate the opening night of the London Jazz Festival, sponsored by BBC Radio 3, Jez Nelson presents a specially extended show, with performances by some of the festival's biggest stars live from the Pizza Express Jazz Club in London.
Including one of the most successful jazz crossover acts of the last couple of years, the US piano trio The Bad Plus; popular Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen; leader of the Jazz Passengers, saxophonist Roy Nathanson, with his Barbes band; and saxophonist Archie Shepp.
Shepp was a major figure in defining the direction of the music in the 1960s, alongside the likes of John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman and Miles Davis. This is a rare chance to hear a living legend playing live in an intimate venue.
