Markus Stockhausen
Friday 26 August 2005 23:30-1:00 (Radio 3)
The first part of an ambitious new work by trumpeter and composer Markus Stockhausen. Commissioned specially by the BBC, the two-part work bridges the gap between jazz and contemporary classical music. Son of the famous composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, his own work is more lyrical and gentle, as exemplified on his acclaimed albums for the ECM record label.
For this concert, he is joined by Angelo Comisso on piano and Christian Thomé on drums. The second part of the commission will be aired tomorrow evening on BBC Radio 3's Hear and Now.
With Jez Nelson.
