A Tribute to Elvin Jones

This week Jez Edwards presents a special celebration of the great jazz drummer who died last month, Elvin Jones. Jones made his name during the 60s as an integral and highly creative part of the classic John Coltrane quartet. Introducing a whole new level of polyrhthym to jazz, he was one of the most influential post-war jazz drummers. Tonight's show talks to many of those who knew Elvin and repeats a well-remembered gig by his band The Jazz Machine at Ronnie Scott's in 1998. The concert features altoist Sonny Fortune, trombonist Robin Eubanks and the great man himself on drums.
