5 April 2005

Tuesday 5 April 2005 17:00-19:30 (Radio 3)

This evening Sean Rafferty speaks to conductor Martyn Brabbins about his inaugural Cheltenham Festival programme, launched today.

Festival Details

Also joining him in the studio are Charles Wiffen and Miguel Mera from the Royal College of Music, to talk about the forthcoming British Postal Museum & Archive and Royal College Of Music's rare film screening set to re-discovered film scores by Benjamin Britten and Walter Leigh.

The concert, to be performed by the RCM's Contemporary Consort and conducted by Miguel Mera, will include performances of Britten's scores for the films The King's Stamp, Coal Face, Night Mail and Leigh's music for the Fairy of the Phone and The City.

To celebrate the project, the BPMA are making Night Mail, along with some other equally exciting films from the period available on a special edition DVD.
