SPNM/BBC Philharmonic

Sarah Walker presents two concerts given by the BBC Philharmonic in Manchester last December. In the first, James Macmillan conducts music selected by the Society for the Promotion of New Music and Peter Maxwell Davies conducts a selection of his own pieces, all inspired by his childhood memories of the Salford area of Manchester, including Spinning Jenny, a vast, industrial scherzo.
