John Buller Tribute
John Buller died on 12 September 2004. He was a composer of strength and integrity, an original and singular voice. His interest in literature and in the classics particularly was the subject of this tribute programme. Centrally, there was the voice of Buller himself, heard introducing a portrait programme of his Joyce-inspired works in 1976: a period of significant musical creativity for him. Around it, Ivan Hewett introduced two of Buller's other main literature-based works, together with spoken tributes from two friends and colleagues, Anthony Payne and Stephen Plaistow.
