Free Thinking - Take Me to the Bridge

The Sage Gateshead

Take Me to the Bridge is a haunting new audio drama from poet Sean O’Brien, which is designed to be listened to on a walk from The Sage Gateshead and onto the Millennium Bridge.

Follow the tale of a man and a woman who find themselves on either side of the bridge, drawn together by currents of memory and desire.

How to listen

Start listening to the drama near the East Door of The Sage Gateshead, looking out at the river. Then follow in the footsteps of the man, Mick, as he leaves The Sage heading for the riverside.

Walk with him down through the two car parks, across the road, into the Baltic Square.

Pause with him as he contemplates the river, and then walk with him finally onto the Millennium Bridge, where he stops halfway across.

The drama is 18 minutes long.

Please take care, as the route takes you through car parks and across one road. The steps may be slippery if it’s wet.
