Liverpool is deservedly recognised as being at the centre of a European cultural and economic renaissance, however Justin Welby's assertion that Liverpool is the most westerly city of the 'connected' European continent is east of the mark. Edinburgh may be visually on the eastern side of Liverpool as the media portrays the United Kingdom but it is in fact 15 miles West of Liverpool, (Cathedral to Cathedral) more-over, Glasgow Cathedral is nearly 88 miles West of Liverpool Cathedral. All three cities share much in common with forward looking cultural policies and people centred activities and should continue to look at all points NSE if not W for future inspiration.
