Faith and Art: The Hussey Legacy
Sunday 19 November 2006 15:30-16:00 (Radio 3)
David Owen Norris looks at the continuing influence of Walter Hussey (1909-1985) on church art and debates whether his original vision has been lost or realised.
When Hussey was made Dean of Chichester in 1956, he continued his passion for modern art, installing controversial works by Sutherland, Chagall and John Piper in the cathedral, and commissioning Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.
