Vivaldi at the Opera
Sunday 19 August 2007 13:00-14:00 (Radio 3)
Lucie Skeaping presents highlights from a concert recorded at the Abbey of Saint Michel-en-Thierache in Picardie, France. The Accademia Bizantina and their director Ottavioa Dantone are joined by contralto Sonia Prina to perform orchestral works and arias by the flame-haired master, Antonio Vivaldi. Vivaldi's operas are not his best-known works, but arias from La Ninfa infelice e consolata, La Silvia, Teuzzone and La Verita in Cimento are heard here alongside two of Vivaldi's less famous concertos.
