Dieterich Buxtehude

Saturday 15 December 2007 13:00-14:00 (Radio 3)

Lucie Skeaping presents a programme devoted to the life and music of Dieterich Buxtehude, who died 300 years ago this year. Buxtehude is known as the leading German composer between Schutz and Bach, and many of his organ compositions were considered avant-garde in their day. Lucie travels to Lubeck to find out more about the composer's life by visiting places connected to him, including St Mary's Church where he was the organist from 1668.
