Hotel Cristobel
Sunday 9 July 2006 20:00-21:30 (Radio 3)
By Caryl Phillips.
Caribbean independence is re-imagined in a struggle for control of a fading hotel on a small and beautiful island. The English woman who has always managed and owned Hotel Cristobel cannot accept that her era is over and that her servant John and the mysterious visitor Mr Schultz from New York might take her hotel away. The play, recorded in New York, is a gripping drama of power, and perhaps love.
