Presented by Suzy Klein. 1.00pm Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert To conclude this week's series of concerts given at The Sage, Gateshead, pianist Freddy Kempf performs Russian Romantic repertoire. The recital begins with Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, followed by Glinka's little-known Privet otchiznye and ends with Balakirev's technically challenging oriental fantasy Islamey. 2.00pm Russian and British Music Featuring major works by the great Russian Romantic composers, focusing especially on Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, as well as British pieces ranging from the familiar to the neglected.
