Tom Durham continues his reading of WH Auden's sequence of poems reflecting on Good Friday through the seven monastic offices of the day. The Archbishop of Canterbury introduces the poem in which Auden reaches the office for 3.00pm and Christ, the incarnate expression of peace and compassion, has been slaughtered. 'What shall we do till nightfall?' the poet inquires.
