Presented by Suzy Klein.
1.00pm Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert
In a series of concerts from The Sage, Gateshead, a trio of young musicians perform works by three of the so-called 'mighty five' composers who were so prominent in 19th century Russia.
Violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky and pianist Katya Apekisheva play the little-known Violin Sonata by Cesar Cui, followed by a performance of Borodin's youthful Cello Sonata, performed by Alexander Chaushian and Katya Apekisheva. To end the recital, all three musicians join forces to play the Piano Trio by Rimsky-Korsakov.
