2.00pm BBC Proms 2008
Another chance to hear Monday's Prom in which the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and its young associate guest conductor Stefan Solyom celebrate the 150th anniversary of Ethel Smyth's birth. Her unusually scored Concerto for Horn and Violin is dedicated to the founder of the Proms, Henry Wood, and alongside it are Wood's own arrangements of Bach and Rachmaninov, a composer whose work he championed. The concert closes with Rachmaninov's romantic Second Symphony.
