Sarah Mohr-Pietsch introduces a recital by Sara Mingardo, one of the few true contraltos in the world, broadcast direct from London's Wigmore Hall. She joins distinguished harpsichordist Rinaldo Alessandrini in a selection of little-known gems from the Italian Baroque, combining seductive lyricism with sparkling virtuosity.

Featuring music recorded last month at the Manchester International Cello Festival, an event that takes place every three years at the Royal Northern College of Music. There will be cello concertos, both old an new, each day featuring a different soloist with the Manchester Camerata conducted by Douglas Boyd.
