Her winning performance of Szymanowski's shimmering Violin Concerto No 1 features in this week's selection of requests, together with recordings from musicians of an altogether greater vintage; soprano Dame Joan Hammond, and horn-player Dennis Brain in a BBC recording of Schubert's Auf dem Strom D943 with tenor Peter Pears.
