The Pet Shop Boys were like nothing else at the time. They never smiled. Ever.

Shahid "West End Girls" was just the beginning....Let's just hope they take their time getting to the end. After 20 years, nothing has changed, but plenty proved.
Paul Philpott/Tunbridge Wells I can't believe I am still enjoying their music 20 years later, they stood out even when I was 10. As well as their music, their whole package of style and artistic flair really appeals to me too. Unfortunatly I did take their angle not to smile too far by never smiling in public as a teenager, I also copied one of Neils outfits to wear to a wedding once! But I was never bored
Todd Wallace, Atlanta Ga The Pet Shop Boys are superlative for the very reason they resist superlatives: their sense of proportion and their sense of the absurd won't allow them to walk around with plastered on smiles just in order to "promote" themselves! Thus, they appeal to the intelligent listener yearning for something authentic. Also, they are, decidedly, the fore-runners of present day electronica. An original, brilliant act, the Pet Shop Boys, are (and forgive the superlative) the best!

"West End Girls" was just the begining of The Pet Shop Boy's Decade-spanning career. I would dare to say that they have yet to reach their pinnacle.
