BIOGRAPHY - PART 3

In 1998 Elaine starred in The Peter Hall Company production of Moliere’s ‘The Misanthrope’ marking her first leading role in a non-musical West End production. She made guest appearances at the Andrew Lloyd Webber 50th Birthday Celebration and at the tribute to Cameron Mackintosh, ‘Hey Mr Producer’ in the presence of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. In 1999 she performed with Marvin Hamlisch in New York, in Scandinavia with Tommy Korberg, with Cliff Richard in London and in concert in South Africa. She performed with the Utah Symphony Orchestra in January 2000 and in February 2002 at Cultural Olympiad, part of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Elaine starred as Anna Leonowens in the award winning production of ‘The King And I’ at the London Palladium between 2000 and 2001 she then went to China and performed a series of concerts at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and the Grand Theatre in Shanghai back in London she performed with Jose Carreras at The Royal Albert Hall in London. In 2003 Elaine starred in ‘Where There’s A Will’, the Georges Feydeau farce directed by Sir Peter Hall, and then toured Scandinavia.

In 2004 Elaine starred in a season with the New York City Opera at the Lincoln Center in New York City as Mrs Lovett in Hal Prince’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sweeney Todd’. In 2006, Elaine released 'Essential Musicals', a collection of favourite songs from some of the most successful shows in Broadway and West End history. In 2007, Elaine returned to London's West End to star in "The Drowsy Chaperone" at the Novello Theatre. She is now planning a series of concerts for 2008, celebrating her 40th anniversary in showbusiness..
