    I remember listening to Pick of the Pops in the car every sunday, but my best memory might not count, as it was just a few months ago. I love Sounds of the Sixties, which I used to listen to while doing dialysis I wrote in about the 100th Birthday party My Mum & I were having as she turns 70 this year & I turn 30. The funny thing was that Brian Matthew said that I worked at the Churchill, when actually I was a patient there! A couple of weeks before the party (long after I'd sent in my request) I had a kidney transplant, but was home intime for the party & my Mum loved the surprise of hearing our names on the radio.

    Iused to listen to radio 1 &2 a lot when I lived in the U.K. and remember hearing Tony Blackburn's first broadcast with "flowers in the rain".I'm now nearly sixty and have been living in the Canary islands for 25 years.I missed B.B.C. radio until this year when I started to tune in "On Line". I'm now addicted to Terry Wogan, Ken Bruce and Jeremy Vine to name a few of my favorites. Thanks for the hours of entertainment I get from Radio Two

    i have fond memories of the beeb,as my dad Cyril Drake worked from leaving school until he retired eventually as an executive producer for radio2 in the mid 70s,and every day his life was the radio and the comradery he had,im sure he would be impressed with the 40th,[unfortunatly he passed away just a year ago, very sadly missed]

    The 'as Radio 1' items above - it would be nice if those could be listed as well, as I cannot find any mention of a listing for 30Sept on the Radio 1 site!!! (why does that not surprise me!!!)

    Mum always listened, even today I can't hear 'We're Gonna Change The World' by Matt Monroe without associating it with Radio 2 - usually on Pete Murrey's Open House. Of course I,ve now ditched Radio 1 for 2 & 3! (Mark, just over 40!)
