Noel Edmonds returns to his radio roots to present Radio 2’s Drivetime show for two months.
From Monday 4th August to Friday 3rd October Noel will be presenting the weekday Drivetime slot - Monday to Friday, 5.05-7.00pm - sitting in for regular presenter Johnnie Walker who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
Noel says: “This is a bittersweet experience. I am a huge fan of Johnnie’s and I wish him a full and speedy recovery. I’m very much looking forward to the challenge of looking after the Drivetime show. It’s a great opportunity and I’m very excited to be back behind the mic, at the country’s most listened to radio station.”
Jim Moir, Controller Radio 2 says: “I join Noel in wishing Johnnie a swift recovery and return to the airwaves. In the meantime, Noel is one of the UK’s most successful and innovative broadcasters and we are delighted that the Drivetime show will be in such capable hands.”
Noel Edmonds’ radio career began in 1968 at Radio Luxembourg. In 1969 he began a long-standing association with the BBC - first in radio where he made his name hosting the Breakfast Show for Radio 1, and then in television - where for many years he balanced presenting on both media. Noel’s love of music led him to open a record shop in London’s Kings Road in the early Seventies. This was the first of many business ventures which have included the formation of a highly successful independent production company. | | |
