How does it feel to be here at the Radio 1 & TOTP Christmas Party?
Nicola: It feels brilliant.
Cheryl: The cold's taking over at the minute, everyone's kind of shuddering!
Nicola: It's nice to get in the Christmas spirit a bit, anyway. When you're working all the time, it's nice to come in and do something festive.

Is this the start of the wind down to Christmas for you?
Nicola: Yeah, we've got three weeks off at Christmas, so it's nice to do all the good, big things before you break up. You end on a high, and then you can go home for Christmas and spend it with your family, so that's nice.

Who's the bigger partier of the two of you?
Nicola:[before the question is even finished!] Me! As you can probably see, my eyes are right the way down by my chin. I'm so hungover!
Were you all out together last night?
Nicola: Just me. I travelled back to Liverpool last night and travelled up again this morning. Hardcore! [Giggles.]

Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?
Nicola: I've done my boyfriend's Christmas shopping, and that's it. I still need to get my mum and my dad and that.
What do you want for Christmas?
Nicola: I want an Audi TT! When I pass my driving test.
Are you going to buy that for yourself, or do you want someone else to buy it for you?
Nicola: Well, if someone wants to buy me one, I'm not going to complain! But I'm going to buy it myself.
How about you, Cheryl?
Cheryl: For Christmas, I did want a puppy, but that's not looking like it's happening at the minute. I've kind of given up on that idea. We haven't really got much time to look after dogs anyway, so it wouldn't be fair. I'm happy just to be home with my family, really.
Do you want a little dog that you can put in your handbag?
Cheryl: I was going to try, but it's not happening!

Is anyone in the band a bit "bah, humbug" about Christmas?
Nicola: No, we're all big Christmas fans. I don't understand how people can get like that about Christmas, I really don't get it at all. It's the best time of the year, Christmas, apart from holidays.

What are your plans for Christmas?
Nicola: Just what we said before, really, we've got three weeks off, so we're going home to spend it with our families. Just to have a bit of normality for three weeks.

Are there any bands here that you're looking forward to catching up with?
Cheryl: We love Jamelia.
Nicola: McFly are nice boys.
Cheryl: We haven't really met Kylie. She seems nice, but we've only seen her floating around. Everyone just kind of gets on with everyone, anyway!

What does next year hold in store for you?
Nicola: Well, when we come back after Christmas, we've got a single out. We've just announced the tour dates, which start in May, and we're just going to be rehearsing for that, concentrating on that. It's our first tour, and we're really, really excited. We're really pleased that we're able to do one.
What's the tour going to be like?
Nicola: Just very different. When you look at all of our singles, every single campaign's been different, every track's been different from the last one, so it's not going to be one specific idea, I don't think.
Are you nervous?
Nicola: Yeah.
Cheryl: Nervous, but excited, I think, more than anything else. At the end of the day, it's only nervous energy really. All the people there have bought tickets to see you, it's not like it's a normal concert that you're doing with everybody on, and you're not really sure if they're going to like you or not. They're there to see you and support you on the tour, so it's fine. It's going to be fantastic.
How are you going to keep your strength up?
Nicola: We'll just have to get ourselves to the gym a bit more often, won't we? Keep fit. We'll be all right!
Cheryl: We'll be fine.
What's the first single for next year going to be?
Cheryl:[teasing] We're not telling you! It's on the album, but we're not telling you which song it is.

Have you got any plans for another Christmas No.1 next year?
Cheryl: Who knows? That's way in the future! We've got a tour to overcome first, so we'll let you know nearer the time!
