Cardiff Pubs and Bars Cardiff has no end of watering holes to suit all tastes. Check out what Radio 1 listeners recommended and if you know somewhere better tell us about it!
Elmsyrup: "The Toucan is the best bar in Cardiff in my opinion. They play classy dance, world music and jazz. Loads of live music. The food is fantastic. The bar is a chilled out space while the 'venue' attached is all flourescent paint and alien shapes in an SFA style. Another nice bar is the Is It? But they play really loud dance music from about 6pm which can grate somewhat."
Ros: "For a funky atmosphere try The End. Situated in the heart of students-ville, this colourful bar offers live DJs, funky décor, big fat sofas and pool tables for the lads. Full of good looking people which is great if you're out talent spotting, but doesn't make for a pretentious atmosphere at all- still chilled out."
Liz Page: "If it all gets too much in town jump on the Bay Xpress shuttle bus (every 10 minutes from the bus station) down to Mermaid Quay to chill with the seagulls and watch the sun set on the bay - it ain't no Café Mambo but there is a huge variety of restaurants and bars from Tapas to Sushi, lager to cocktails."
Ros: "For a cheap and unusual venue try The Prince of Wales.
Based in an old theatre, this Wetherspoons pub is housed in a stunning building- you can still see the stage area complete with suspended stage scenery, or enjoy a pint in one of the boxes! With the old Wetherspoons two meals for a fiver deal and great drinks prices, this is a regular haunt."
Liv: "For bar/pub crawl begin at Mill Lane and be sure to try Moloko (and all its vodkas but mind out for the chilli one!)."
