Doors will open around 1200 on both Saturday 14 May and Sunday 15 May. The event will finish around 2230 each night.
BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend will be broadcast on Radio 1, BBC TV, on the Radio 1 web and mobile sites as well as on the red button (from BBC TV channels). We will bring you live coverage, all the highlights, exclusive access and special performances throughout the festival.

There will be car parking available at Radio 1's Big Weekend. Car parking can only be paid on the day. There will also be shuttle buses in operation. For more information on this and how to purchase shuttle bus tickets in advance visit Carlisle Tourism Partnership website.
Yes, there will be buses going to Carlisle Airport from Penrith Station and Carlisle town centre from 0900 to 1400, with a number of other stops possible if pre-booked. Return buses will run from 2030 to 0100 in the evenings. More information on Big Weekend shuttle buses.
There is no age limit for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. However, if you are under 16 you must be accompanied by a responsible person who is at least 18 years old. You may also be asked for ID if you look under 16. Children under two years old do not need a ticket, but those two and over will need one. Please bear in mind that this is an outdoor event, with loud music and large crowds expected.
No food or drink can be taken into the site - with the exception of personal supplies of water in a plastic container with an unbroken seal (up to 500 ml per person), or special medical supplies (please bring a Doctors note if these are not obviously medicinal). Food and alcohol will be on sale inside the venue, however if you look under 21 please do not be offended if we ask you for proof of age when buying alcohol. The only forms of ID acceptable will be a photo driving licence or a passport.
Yes, but please be aware professional photography equipment is not allowed and we advise you to leave zoom lenses and other pieces of expensive equipment at home.

The two main stages will have a raised viewing platform with accessible toilet facilities. Priority is given to wheelchair users, but other disabled users may be given access at the discretion of security staff, if space exists. You do not need to contact us in advance, our team on the day will direct you.
Disabled parking is available for those with a blue badge on a first come, first served basis, but please note this is a green field site without pathways in places. If you need charging facilities, please go to the information tent, where people will direct you to a suitable area.

Radio 1's Big Weekend visits a different area each year and we always give a degree of preference to those in the local area.
Tickets were allocated randomly, based on postcode, but weighted in favour of those living in Carlisle, Cumbria and the surrounding areas. Two thirds (65%) of the tickets went to listeners in Carlisle and Cumbria, 30% went to neighbouring parts of North East of England and the south of Scotland, with 5% distributed across the rest of the UK.
This ticketing method has been used at previous Big Weekends and we work hard to ensure that the system is very secure. All tickets are printed with a unique barcode and the name and address of the person receiving them. The barcode is scanned at the entrance to the event and tickets with invalid barcodes will be rejected.
Tickets are fully traceable and we can cancel them at any time by invalidating the barcode.
Valid tickets for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend are free. Unfortunately, a handful of people do sometimes try and sell their tickets. We work closely with those running the major sites and they will remove posts offering tickets for sale once they become aware of them.
If you purchase tickets they may have been invalidated and you will not get in.
If you cannot now attend please visit our ticket returns page and let us know. We will cancel the ticket and re-issue to someone else who registered for the event.
If your tickets have not arrived by Friday 6 May then please call our 24-hour helpline no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 10th May. The helpline number is on the email telling you that you have been successful in your application. That email also has a special order code, which you will need when you call.
We get numerous requests asking for tickets for charity initiatives and other good causes, but unfortunately are not usually able to help. We try to read all emails sent to us; however please do not be offended if, due to the large number of enquiries we receive, we do not have time to respond to you personally.
We are not looking for any more bands to play this year, but if you want to be in with a chance of playing on a BBC Introducing stage in future make sure you upload your music via the BBC Introducing uploader.
