The only band to headline Big Weekend twice made a welcome return six years after they rocked Sunderland alongside Kasabian, Chemical Bros and the Kaiser Chiefs. Rope hit the airwaves early in the year, giving us a glimpse of what the newly-crowned Godlike Genius and his compatriots had in store for us, but Carlisle was the UK's first glimpse of the band on a festival stage this year.
Let's just say that Dave Grohl and co brought material recorded in their garage to the biggest stage in the UK and made everyone feel like they were at Dave's house, blasting Big Weekend to kingdom Cumbria.

Grohl and the gang prove again that nice guys can finish first.
