Derry’s contribution sees local music fans John Keaveney and Leigh Herron organising their Third John Peel Day gig in Sandinos Café Bar on the day. This year's event sees a phenomenal 5 live acts playing in the Water Street venue as well as an eclectic DJ Set epitomising what John Peel as all about.
Live music on the night will be provided by :

One of the highlights of last year's John Peel Day gig was when Frank Rafferty took to the stage and performed the works of Scottish poet, humorist and songwriter Ivor Cutler. Frank is going to repeat that this year, performing the touching, absurd short poems of the man who recorded a total of 21 Peel sessions between 1969 and 1991 and who claimed to have "gained a whole new audience thanks to Peel.'
DJ support will be provided by the existential rock ' n roll poet extraordinaire, Paul McCartney ( BamBam and the Calling ) His music will be extolling the virtues of psychedelia, folk rock, progressive rock, reggae, punk, post-punk, hip-hop, jungle, the Madchester bands, Britpop, drum 'n' bass and dozens of other sub-genres - an eclectic mix of music that will endeavour to pay tribute to the legend himself.
