PEEL AT
GLASTONBURY
2000
This year saw many gatecrashers, or fence-hoppers to give their festival-specific name, but true to the spirit of Glastonbury the party carried on, accepting all comers.
The Pyramid Stage had been rebuilt after a fire and rose above the site, with sunlight bouncing off its silver coating. The Glade provided a popular outdoor dance space, with revellers dancing (and sometimes sleeping) among the trees in one of Worthy Farm's few spots of shade.
John's hands had turned orange after an encounter with some Glastonbury artists and the BBC reported he'd been talking about emailing the then President Clinton an email from the festival. The award for the most unlikely festival attendee should have gone to another politician, then Tory MP and Spectator editor Boris Johnson.
