5 Reasons To Visit Birmingham

It's never been credited as the coolest city in the UK, but everyone that works in Birmingham have nothing but love for the place. We chatted to some of the city's biggest DJs and promoters, and they each gave us 5 good reasons for their love of the city.

Lisa LashesLisa Lashes - Sundissential Resident
1. CODE - A bright, fresh new club with a sound system larger than life!
2. M6 - Gets me from my doorstep to Sundissential with no messing around!
3. Golden Gate Chippy - Fish and chips galore for just under a fiver!
4. China Town - Restaurants, casinos, fab clothes shops and then off to the health shop for a manicure and massage!
5. Brummies - Always a good laugh and a pleasure to DJ to

AJ GibsonAJ Gibson - Godskitchen Resident
1. Godskitchen, Babooshka & CODE - The best clubs in the world.
2. Ladypool Road - You won't get a better curry anywhere else.
3. It's bang smack in the middle of the country with really good road access from everywhere apart from the bloody M6 which lets me do 2/3 gigs in one night.
4. The bars & clubs - Something for every taste.
5. Shopping - Leave it for 6 months as they are remodernising the Bullring.

James AlgateJames Algate - Babooshka Resident
1. Code - Best club in the country
2. Code - 4th Best club in the world
3. Code - Best Soundsystem in UK
4. Code - Midlands Club of the year
5. Can't think of anything else that you might want to come to Birmingham for!

Steve GerrardSteve Gerrard - Midweek Session Resident
1. The Academy - Possibly the best venue for live gigs in the country
2. The Medicine Bar - The only place in Birmingham with consistently high quality line-ups. The true underground!
3. Balti Houses - I'm not a fan, but that puts me very much in the minority. Apparently the best baltis in the country.
4. Copter - the greatest unsigned band in the world.
5. Ramshackle - The biggest night of its kind in the country. Dance Like Nobody's Watching!

Daniel SotoDaniel Soto - Godskitchen Resident
1. Arguably the finest bar culture outside London
2. The world famous 'Curry Belt' - the 2.00 am Sunday morning retreat of every self respecting, drunken brummie...
3. The National Indoor Arena - no-one knows what it's for but it sure looks good...
4. The complete modernisation and redevelopment currently in process just about everywhere you go - about bleedin' time as well...
5. Home to certainly the finest club I will ever play at - CODE

1. The Babooshka Lounge @ CODE - Birmingham's hidden gem for those that know!
2. A Brummie Curry - to taste it is to love it!
3. The Custard Factory - Drinks'n'eats'n'beats'n'culture under one roof.
4. Session's Guests - Lawler gets the cream of the crop of international DJs to the Midlands.
5. www.bpmradio.co.uk - based in the Midlands but broadcasting worldwide.
