Little Comets are brothers Robbie (Vocals) and Micky (Guitar), Mark (drums) and Matt on bass. In the past year, the Comets have risen out of obscurity to become the band on everyone's lips. They've built up a loyal fan-base without gracing the tried and tested 'toilet' circuit of venues, instead preferring to play impromptu gigs at birthday parties, on trains, in shopping centres and, notably, at university lecture theatres.
A quick look at their MySpace blog reveals they've recently played improvised gigs on supertrams in Stoke and Newcastle as they boldly go on their epic tour of the UK in a van (when they're not being pulled over for speeding or getting stuck in the mud, that is).
It was this kind of bravado that attracted the attention of BBC Introducing, with Huw Stephens declaring the Comets one of his favourite bands of 2008. A celebrated set on the BBC Introducing stage at In The City in October 2008 helped bag the band a single deal with record label Lucky Number and an album deal to follow with Columbia. If you're into optimistic alt-pop sounds and chirpy indie chappies float your boat, Little Comets the band for you.
