Line up / Bombay Bicycle Club

Introduction

When Bombay Bicycle Club formed in 2005 at the tender age of 15, Jack Steadman (vocals, guitar), Jamie MacColl (guitar), Ed Nash (bass) and Suren de Saram (drums) still had three long years of school ahead of them. But that didn't stop them. The band went through several line-up and name changes before settling down and playing small gigs at their school.

In 2006, the band shot to fame by winning the Virgin Mobile 'Road To V' competition, beating off competition from fellow Londoners, The Holloways. Their prize was to play the opening slots of V 2006 in Chelmsford and Staffordshire.

The following year, the BBC (the band, that is, not us) released two EPs on their own Mmm... Records label, supported previous Road To V winners The Young Knives on a UK tour, and found themselves lauded as the next big thing by the NME. How they found the time in between exams and coursework is anyone's guess.

Fast forward a bit to 2009 and here they are: A-levels done and dusted, debut album scheduled for release in June 2009 and a deal with Island Records in the bag. The future's looking very bright indeed for Bombay Bicycle Club.
