Night trains are back, once again connecting Europe’s cities with the promise of green, serene and iconic journeys. After years of decline, revitalised routes, new operators and innovative cabin designs have led supporters to declare that the direction of long-distance travel is back to the future – but obstacles to expanding Europe’s sleeper services remain.
