Caleb Rimtobaye - better known as AfrotroniX - tells DJ Edu about the roots of his Saharan electro sound, and how he wants to change the image of Africa with his music.
Caleb Rimtobaye is an award-winning musician, singer, DJ and guitarist from Chad. He performs as AfrotroniX, wearing a helmet that looks like it’s from a science fiction movie. He’s created a unique sound - Saharan electro - blending the traditional rhythms and ancient singing styles of Chad with electronic sounds including deep house, amapiano, afro house, afro tech, dubstep and ambient electronics. His mission is to change the image of Africa through his music.
