Changing religion for love
Couples share their experiences of religion and romance
How difficult is it to stay together when you have different religious faiths?
US Vice President JD Vance spoke recently about his interfaith marriage – he’s a Christian and his wife, Usha, is Hindu. They are raising their children as Christians, and the Vice President said he hopes that his wife will one day convert.
In our conversations, we bring together happily married couples with different faiths –Muslim, Hindu and Christian – to discuss how they navigate religion in their relationships.
We also hear from couples in the US and Malaysia, including Kylie, who converted from Christianity to Judaism. “My husband was very firm that he wanted to marry a Jewish woman,” Kylie tells us. “Looking back if I hadn’t gone on this journey, he probably wouldn’t have ever gotten married and that would have been very sad.”
